HONG KONG — The Standing Committee of China’s congress has handed amendments to a regulation that may criminalize the intentional insulting of the nationwide flag and emblem, after anti-government protesters final 12 months desecrated the Chinese language flag.

In keeping with the newly amended Nationwide Flag and Nationwide Emblem Regulation, which is able to take impact on Jan. 1, those that deliberately burn, mutilate, paint, deface or trample the flag and emblem in public shall be investigated for legal accountability.
